XCCM has planned a two-day local training camp in the Chelsea/Wakefield area to help you pump up the volume of your training with two full days of intensity and endurance training, using some ski specific activities and other cool alternatives. You’ll jump start your fall fitness and have a lot of fun at the same time.

Camp details

Day One:

It all begins with our regular (but spiced up for Fall camp) practice. Following the work-out we will head to Larrimac Golf Club to use their facilities that include showers.http://www.larrimac.com  Lunch will be provided by a local caterer who will offering the choice of either a hearty meat dish, vegan chili and salad. Lunch will be followed by a presentation on dehydration during XC skiing and its effects on performance.

The presenters are:

  • Dr. Sean Notley, Postdoctoral Fellow within the Human and Environmental Physiology Research Unit at the University of Ottawa.
  • Mr. Robert Meade is doctoral student within the Human and Environmental Physiology Research Unit at the University of Ottawa.

After lunch we will head outside for either a group hike departing from Larrimac or a group mountain bike ride.

.Day Two: We will begin our day at Larrimac Golf Club and from there carpool to the Cascade Club where we will be greeted by our beloved coach Dan Mallett. http://cascadesclub.ca  Dan will introduce us to the sport of dragon boating and from there we will paddle together up the Gatineau River to Wakefield. Lunch will be served at Chamberlin’s Lookout and then we will paddle our way back to the Cascade Club.
