It has been a busy week of racing here in Asiago. The spectators are getting to know our uniform and we new get cheers of “Go Canada” as we race through the various courses. All short and medium distance races are complete. Last night the Canadian Master’s Association held a social and picked relay teams. A number of XCCMs will be competing in the 4x5km relays tomorrow. Pierre Harvey is registered in the MWC but missed his first two races. He showed up last night at the social and some of us got a chance to chat with him. Today is a day off. Activities include visiting Venice, Vicenza, and touring local XC areas.

We have rented apartments at the Albergo Garni Rendola, 1 km from Asiago and 4 km from the XC Ski Station. There is room for 12 to a maximum of 16 people: two apartments sleep 4-6 and one apartment sleeps 4. Appartments are fully equipped with two bedrooms, living room, kitchens, bedding, towels. Travel
XC Chelsea Masters will rent two vehicles for the duration of the trip to travel to and from the airport, Asiago, and the race site. The cost of the rental vehicles will be included in the total price for the trip. To travel to Asiago, Italy, each participant must arrange and pay for his/her own flight from Feb. 12 – 23, 2013. Flights to Venice are approx. $1200. More information on our travel plans to come.
Meals
Most meals, breakfasts and suppers, can be prepared and eaten at the apartments. But we will also want to go out for great Italian food on several evenings. The most economical and nutritious will be for us to purchase groceries for the group and take turns preparing group meals, taking into consideration any specific requests and nutritional requirements. An estimation of the cost for meals is $30-$50 per day. This is not included in the price for the trip.
Registration
Each participant must take care of their own registration with Masters World Cup entry fee ( In 2011, this was 160 Euros or about $216 Cdn and membership in the Canadian Masters Ski Association ($35 for Quebec and $20 for all other provinces. See http://www.canadian-masters-xc-ski.ca/ ). In 2011, there was only one fee for the event whether you chose to enter one race or many and included your banquet ticket, bus shuttle services and relay entry fee if you are chosen to compete for Canada.
