Where can I find practice location and workout details?
You’ll find up-to-date information about upcoming practices at the Next Practice page (xcchelseamasters.com/next). Check it before practice for details about the practice including location, gear to bring, and any special notes from the coaches. Always check the next practice page a few hours before practice, particularly in winter, to find out whether any last-minute changes had to be made. Changes to practice are made based on weather conditions and other events and they are only communicated via the Next Practice page.
What do I need to bring to dryland practice?
For these practices, you’ll want to dress for running and bring a water bottle belt carrier, if possible. In addition to plenty of hydration, you’ll likely want a snack for the longer Saturday practices. Bring poles for ski bounding (an old pair of classic ski poles works well), as well as a yoga mat, medicine ball, if you have them. You’ll likely welcome dry, warm clothes for after as well. We usually go for coffee at Les Saisons in Old Chelsea after Saturday practices and we hope you can join us!
What do I need to bring to rollerski practice?
If you’ve signed up for rollerskiing, in addition to hydration and nutrition, bring your roller skis, ski boots, rollerksi poles, and a helmet. Knee and elbow pads aren’t a bad idea either!
What do I need to bring to on-snow practice?
We’ll generally alternate weekly between classic skiing and skate skiing, although this may change depending on the weather. Make sure you check the Next Practice page so you know which type of equipment to bring!
Are there any other opportunities to ski? (Sunday Skiing)
Yes! Many members plan to ski (or rollerski) together on Sundays. These skis are often planned at Les Saisons where we have coffee after Saturday practices, as well as on our Facebook page (see below). Feel free to join a group or start your own!
How do I join the Facebook group page?
We have a private group where members past and present discuss XC related topics and organize additional training. If you’re a Facebook member, search for the group by name (XC Chelsea Masters Ski Club) and request to be added to the group. If your Facebook alias isn't easily recognizable as your real name, send us an email to let us know that you have put in a request so we can approve you.
Do club members participate in other ski events?
We encourage club members to participate in events and races and we’ll let you know what’s coming up throughout the year!
How can I help out?
Our club is run by volunteers. We have many ways of volunteering, including welcoming new members, supporting races, fundraising, special events such as organizing camps, taking photos for newsletters and various social events. If you'd like to get involved, drop us a line at: [email protected].
