A Message from the NCC:
The National Capital Commission (NCC) would like to inform you about upcoming work to improve trails 27 and 29 in Gatineau Park. Beginning on October 15 and finishing in the spring of 2020, this project will include repairs to 18 culverts, foundation replacement and pathway repaving. These improvements will extend the life span and overall quality of these trails for all users.
Full cyclist and pedestrian detour will be in place for the duration of the project, ensuring that users have reliable and safe options for travelling into Gatineau Park. Signage on-site will inform users of safe detours into Gatineau Park. Work will be undertaken Monday to Friday, between 7 am and 5 pm.
Phase 1: Fall 2019
Phase 1, starting on October 15, 2019, will involve the closure of Trail 29 between Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes and Trail 27. An additional closure of Trail 27 from the intersection with Trail 29 to Trail 5 will also take place. Gravel-surfaced trails will reopen later this fall in time for winter cross-country skiing.
We are pleased to confirm that all cross-country trails will remain open for the 2019–2020 season.
Phase 2: Spring 2020
Phase 2 of the project is expected to be carried out in the spring of 2020, and will involve intermittent closures of trails 27 and 29 for paving activities. Timing of this phase is weather-dependent, and will be determined in 2020. We will share information with the community early in 2020, once we have more details.
