In the first of the Hidden Talents social series, geologist Nicole Rayner led a geological cycling tour through Gatineau Park.
We learned all about the rare stromatolite rock formations on the Ottawa river bank, where there are outcroppings of marble and granite in the various rock cuts in the park and the difference between them, why one of them collapsed last winter, where the Atlantic ocean almost formed in the middle of the park, and the location of dangerous (for house foundations) leda clay, as well as much more. I will never look at the rocks in Gatineau Park quite the same way again. Thank-you Nicole.
